Welcome

From the President's Tractor Seat

Greetings fellow Young Farmers.  On behalf of the 2008 State Executive Committee, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and safe and productive harvest season.  The 2008 NYFEA Institute will be held December 10-13 in Baltimore, Maryland.  We hope to see many of you there to enjoy the tours, educational opportunities, and time to visit with other Young Farmers from across this great country.  During these tough economic times it is important to share ideas and experiences with others involved in our industry as we all look forward to a brighter future.

The Executive Committee is continuing to make plans for the 59th Annual State Convention to be held January 23-25 at the Holiday Inn University in Blacksburg.  Tours this year will include an extensive tour of the University research facilities at Kentland Farm, as well as a tour of Lane Stadium.  We will hold our annual contests at the convention and hope to see strong participation this year.  I would also encourage members to consider serving on our executive committee.  This is a great experience and a chance to help guide our organization in the future.

It has been a rewarding experience serving as a state officer and as president this year.  I would like to thank the others serving on the executive committee and everyone else who has helped our organization.  We wish all of you a Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing all of you in Blacksburg.
