The 58th Annual Convention

The 58th Annual Convention of the Young Farmers of Virginia was held at the Holiday Inn Tanglewood January 25-27, 2008.  Over 100 members and guests attended the convention. Kevin Schmidt, Coordinator, Office of Farmland Preservation, Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services addressed the audience at the Saturday night awards banquet. The conference included tours of Jareco Dairy Farm, Diamond S Farm (beef cattle, hunting preserve, and cutting horse demonstration), and the Southern States Feed Mill. Farm Credit sponsored lunch. Virginia Poultry Growers Cooperative sponsored one bus and a joint effort between Rockingham Petroleum Cooperative, First Bank and Trust Company, and Dairymen Specialty Co. Inc. sponsored the second tour bus.
